farm training…well, sort of

***This entry was written last Monday but I couldn’t click the Publish button yet because I was waiting for Lan to send the pictures we took that day. Stupid me did not bring the digicam.

Lan and yours truly holding a bait for fishing

If you are expecting for a massive event to happen in your life, a gigantic step that could change everything. Well, you need to be fully equipped. You don’t want to go in to a battle without the proper ammunition right? That is the reason why we travelled gazillion miles away from Manila to the land of chicharons and rice cakes…Baliuag, Bulacan. Yeah, I know, it’s not really that far but my depleting lazy tush is not used to these kinds of travels and adventures. I’m a city lad who prefers to watch “The Graduate” on a Sunday and not be bothered by a close friend or relative.  But If I am serious about earning a lot of moolahs in another country through agriculture then I need to change my usual weekend routine and be trained to become a real farmer. Okay, scratch that. Get a fake certificate from a friend whose dad owns one of the largest farms in Baliuag. That is less burdensome than a hands on training in tree planting, mango harvesting or Fishing 101.

Four more pics of our Bulacan adventure after the cut.

desperately seeking II

I should probably create another category for my overseas endeavors. Yeah, I definitely think so since I kinda have a feeling that this is going to be a long journey. It could take a few months or even a year but I really don’t mind waiting that long because I know it is so gonna be worth it. Imagine all the lovely cows I’m going to milk and the apples I’m going to pick under the blue skies of whichever country this insanely delirious dream would take me.

I’m still positive despite the fact that Ron and I got our first taste of a very harsh rejection from the agency in NZ.  Only our ultra kewl lesbo buddy Lan got a response from them but she’s not going to take the offer because we think it is a complete hoax. Here’s what makes it so deceiving; She’s basically hired and the deployment would be January of next year even if no interview from the employer has taken place (not even a phone interview) all she has to do is to submit usual the pre-employment requirements by the end of the week and deposit 168 New Zealand Dollars to their Philippine bank account.  No contact number was included in the e-mail only a fax number wherein you could submit the said requirements. I called the New Zealand Embassy to check if there’s a way to find out if this particular Manpower Recruitment Agency is legal. A stuttering operator (probably astonished at that time because I was speaking 280 WPM in english) said they could not verify the legitimacy of placement agencies operating here in our country or even abroad and if they are requiring us to pay a certain fee to process the necessary documents, then it is the risk we have to take.  Shoot me in the head please! Even if I have that kind of money, There is no way I would give some hoodwinked agency that kind of amount. Good thing they did not reply to our application because they will surely get an acerbic reaction from me.
